Our successful ‘Trends in Teaching’ seminar programme is back with its third year, offering you a new chance to participate in workshops for teachers by experts in education. As the academic year is just getting started, we hope that motivation is not in short supply, but we all know that, as the year progresses, enthusiasm can wane! To help you with that, Pere Cortiella and Juliet McArdle will be looking at motivation from different angles providing you with activities and ideas for both students and teachers.

Pere Cortiella. Studied in the University of Edinburgh, has a master’s degree in Education, speaks 4 languages and teaches on a Very Young Learners course in IHBCN. He has taught English to children, teens and adults for over 14 years specialising in young learners in several different schools in the Barcelona area. He is the coordinator for Young Learners in ICCIC, runs many teacher training courses for IHBCN, ICCIC and the Generalitat de Catalunya and has also co-authored 4 books for primary students published by Mosquito Books BCN.

Juliet McArdle. Has been an English teacher for over 20 years, she has experience with all levels and age groups. She has her English Language Teaching Certificate from he New School for Social Research and her Master’s degree in TESOL from Hunter College, both in New York.
She is a Cambridge Oral examiner from Key to Proficiency and has also worked as a Writing examiner at B2 level since 2013. She is currently teaching First Certificate and Advanced levels in ESO and Batxillerat at Escoles Freta, Calella, where she is also the English Department Coordinator.
